COPLER | SELF-LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
How well do you lead yourself under pressure?
Proactive Stress Management
Pressure affects more than how you feel. It can influence how you think, communicate, make decisions and behave. Learn to recognise your own stress-response patterns earlier and develop more deliberate ways of responding under pressure.
Understand your pattern. Recognise it earlier. Respond more deliberately.
Pressure can begin affecting you before you realise it.
Stress doesn't only affect how you feel. As pressure builds, it can begin influencing how you think, feel, physically respond, communicate and behave—sometimes before you consciously recognise what is happening.
Thinking — overthinking, reduced concentration, difficulty seeing options clearly.
Emotions — worry, frustration, irritability or feeling overwhelmed.
Body — tension, tiredness, changes in breathing, restlessness or difficulty switching off.
Behaviour — reacting quickly, withdrawing, procrastinating or becoming less patient.
Performance & relationships — reduced focus, communication difficulties, mistakes, poorer decisions or unnecessary conflict.
You don't have to wait until pressure becomes overwhelming. The earlier you recognise your pattern, the greater your opportunity to respond deliberately.
What happens inside us when pressure appears?
An external situation may start the process—a deadline, difficult conversation, expectation, uncertainty or demanding responsibility.
But our response develops through what happens inside us.
Much of this can happen quickly and automatically.
By the time we consciously recognise what is happening, our response may already be influencing how we think, communicate, decide and behave.
Proactive stress management means learning to recognise this process earlier—while there is still greater opportunity to influence what happens next.
Don’t wait for RED.
Learn to notice YELLOW.
Check where you are, notice what is changing, and respond early.

Stress management is also a self-leadership capability.
A practical, one-day programme
Work with your own patterns—not just information about stress.
During this in-person programme, you will work through the three PSM questions using practical exercises, reflection and application to situations you actually face.
You will:
identify the situations and demands that commonly trigger pressure for you;
recognise your personal patterns in thinking, emotions, physical responses and behaviour;
build your own Stress Meter and identify your early warning signs;
practise ways to pause before automatically reacting;
explore practical responses you can use when pressure begins building;
develop your own Proactive Stress Management Plan for situations you regularly face.
The aim is not simply to know more about stress. It is to become better at recognising your own response early enough to respond more deliberately.
