Is stress still lingering?

When Did You Last Recover from the Pressure?

A difficult day ends. You close your laptop, leave the office or finish your responsibilities at home.

But has the pressure ended for you?

You may still be thinking about the conversation you need to have. You may be planning tomorrow’s work while eating dinner. You may finally sit down to rest, yet find that your mind remains busy.

Many people plan carefully for what they must do. Recovery is left to whatever time remains.

That becomes difficult when one demanding day is followed by another. Even if you handle each situation, you may begin the next one already tired, distracted or less patient than usual.

Recovery can take different forms. Sleep matters. So can a break during the day, movement, time with someone you trust, an enjoyable activity, or simply a period without another demand on your attention. What helps you recover may depend on what has been draining you.

Ask yourself two questions:

What is taking the most out of me right now?
What gives me a real opportunity to regain some capacity?

Then choose one realistic action. It could be protecting your bedtime, taking a proper lunch break or putting aside ten minutes after work before turning to the next responsibility.

Recovery does not remove every stressor. It helps you meet the next demand with more of yourself available.

Make recovery part of your plan before your stress meter reaches RED.
